Technology

CGEN redefines how clean energy is generated — with modular, air-cored generators built for the real-world challenges of wave, tidal and wind.

Our system converts low-speed, high-torque mechanical energy into clean, efficient electrical power using a lightweight, stackable architecture.

Unlike conventional generators with heavy iron cores and complex nacelles, CGEN uses a modular, air-cored design that eliminates magnetic attraction forces. This makes our machines lighter, easier to transport, and far simpler to maintain — ideal for offshore and remote installations in wind, tidal, wave, and hydro systems.

Each CGEN unit is assembled from interchangeable rotor and stator modules. If a fault occurs, it can be isolated and bypassed,  avoiding full system shutdown and enabling in-situ repair. This modularity also supports scalable, efficient manufacturing and faster deployment at all power levels.

Adaptable modular generators which are scalable, serviceable, and ready for deployment.

Key benefits

  • Reduces costs: O&M, transportation and manufacturing costs (up to 30%).
  • Cuts lifetime costs: due to modularity and ease of maintenance (up to 20%).
  • Circular by design: easier to reuse, refurbish, and recycle individual modules.
  • Flexible integration: works with a wide range of renewable energy device types.
  • Built to be inherently retrofittable: drop-in replacement for ageing direct drive generators.
  • Achieves scalability: from kW to multi-MW systems with minimal redesign.
  • Easy to maintain: faults isolated at module level; no full system removal.
  • Maximises uptime and revenue: fault isolation allows continued operation during module failure.

Integrations

  • Retrofit into wind turbines, replacing ageing or failing direct-drive systems.
  • Integrate with new renewable devices as a tailored generator solution.
  • Compatible with standard power electronics and control systems, fast to integrate, simple to operate.
  • Built for compliance, certification and standards roadmap actively under development.
